Accessibility
Our commitment to an inclusive digital experience
Our Commitment
The Global Digital Economy Forum (GDEF) is committed to ensuring that its website and digital services are accessible to all users, including persons with disabilities. As an organisation dedicated to inclusive governance of the digital economy, we recognise that digital accessibility is both a fundamental right and a core institutional responsibility.
Standards We Follow
We aim to conform to the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.1 at Level AA. These guidelines are developed by the World Wide Web Consortium (W3C) Web Accessibility Initiative (WAI) and define how to make web content more accessible to people with a wide range of disabilities, including:
- Visual impairments (including blindness and low vision)
- Hearing impairments
- Motor or physical disabilities
- Cognitive and neurological disabilities
What We Are Doing
To support accessibility, we take the following measures:
- Providing text alternatives for non-text content
- Ensuring sufficient colour contrast throughout the website
- Making all functionality available via keyboard navigation
- Using semantic HTML and ARIA attributes to support assistive technologies
- Structuring content with clear headings and logical reading order
- Ensuring forms include appropriate labels and instructions
- Designing responsive layouts that work across devices and screen sizes
Known Limitations
While we strive for full accessibility, some content may not yet fully meet WCAG 2.1 Level AA standards. We are continuously working to identify and address any barriers. Known areas under improvement include:
- Some older PDF publications may not be fully accessible; we are working to provide accessible alternatives
- Certain embedded third-party content may not fully conform to accessibility standards
Assistive Technologies
Our website is designed to be compatible with common assistive technologies, including:
- Screen readers (such as JAWS, NVDA, and VoiceOver)
- Screen magnification software
- Speech recognition software
- Keyboard-only navigation
