Logo Symbolism
The GDEF logo is a stylised globe rendered in minimal, stroke-only linework — reflecting the Forum's commitment to clarity, rigour, and international reach.
Outer Circle
The outermost ring represents the Earth's outline, symbolising the Forum's global scope and its mission to address governance challenges that transcend national borders.
Inner Ellipse
A vertical ellipse nested within the outer circle represents a meridian line — the longitudinal axis of the globe. Its narrower proportion against the outer ring conveys depth and dimensionality, evoking the three-dimensional nature of global governance across different economies and jurisdictions.
Horizontal Ellipse
A semicircular arc tracing the upper hemisphere represents a line of latitude — the horizontal counterpart to the vertical meridian. Together, the inner ellipse and horizontal ellipse form the characteristic wireframe of a globe, reinforcing the three-dimensional, multi-regional nature of the Forum's work.
Equator & Prime Meridian
The horizontal and vertical axes intersecting at the globe's centre evoke the equator and prime meridian — the foundational coordinate system of the Earth. They symbolise the structured governance frameworks and reference points GDEF seeks to establish for the digital economy.
The stroke-only, no-fill design language reflects the rational, professional, and transparent character expected of international institutions — aligning GDEF's visual identity with organisations such as the United Nations and the World Economic Forum.
