Biography

Gbenga Ibikunle is Professor and Chair of Finance at the University of Edinburgh Business School, where he leads research on financial market design, ESG investing, and the economics of carbon markets. His empirical work on market microstructure and sustainability-linked financial innovation has been published in top-tier finance journals.

Professor Ibikunle's research on carbon credit markets, green finance, and sustainable investment provides critical insight into how financial mechanisms can be designed to serve environmental objectives. He brings expertise in the intersection of financial innovation and climate policy to the Council's deliberations.
