Biography

Jumpei Miwa is CEO of KLA Inc. and formerly served as Assistant Commissioner at Japan's Financial Services Agency (JFSA). He played a central role in developing Japan's approach to crypto-asset regulation, stablecoin governance, and cross-border regulatory cooperation in digital finance.

Mr Miwa provides the Council with first-hand insight into how a major economy's financial regulator approaches the challenges of digital finance governance. Japan's early and iterative approach to crypto regulation — including the world's first comprehensive crypto-asset licensing regime — offers valuable lessons for jurisdictions worldwide.
